3rd announcement
This is the third announcement regarding the Joint Cluster-Plasma Observatory workshop.
Following the first announcement in March 2025, we are excited to announce that registration and abstract submission for the Joint Cluster Plasma Observatory are now open. The Workshop aims at celebrating the retirement of Cluster Rumba as well as at presenting ongoing studies based on the wealth of data from Cluster Science Archive, while showing the way to the Plasma Observatory mission study. The status of the Plasma Observatory Phase A study will also be presented, alongside science presentations focused on observational, theoretical and numerical studies of plasma energization and energy transport physics, which defines the science theme of Plasma Observatory.
The Workshop will be held in Paris from the 20th to the 24th of October 2025. Information on the Workshop, including preliminary programme and venue information, has been published.
To register, you need to first create a login on the Workshop website. You will receive the information by email within a few minutes. Once you have logged in (by using your username, not email address), click on “Registration” on the left menu. The registration process is self explanatory. Please note that there is no registration fee. Registration will cover coffee breaks and lunches over the Workshop’s week as well as the icebreaker event on Day 1 ( Monday 20th) and the social dinner on Day 3 (Wed 22nd), which will happen in conjunction with the Cluster 1 re-entry event that will be broadcasted live at the Workshop venue.
To submit your abstract, click on “My submissions” on the left menu, then on “Submit an abstract”. The submission process is self-explanatory, just please remember to choose the appropriate topic from the list and to include “Oral or Poster” in the “Comment” box.
The deadline for registration and abstract submission is Friday, October 10th EOB.
Please note that we do not make recommendations for accommodation however the Workshop will take place in central Paris (arrondissement XIV) with plenty of options around the Workshop venue. FIAP Paris is an association dedicated to Jean Monnet, sometimes referred to as the “Father of Europe”, stressing the international flavour of the Plasma Observatory mission.
We look forward to seeing you all there! Your participation is of pivotal importance for the success of the Plasma Observatory mission study and for strengthening our scientific Community. And visiting Paris is always nice 😉
Best regards

1st announcement
Following the successful first Plasma Observatory Community workshop held in Rome in November 2024, a joint Cluster-Plasma Observatory Workshop will be held in Paris from October 20th to October 24th 2025.
Cluster‘s four-spacecraft constellation has been the first ever to study the Earth’s Magnetospheric System in 3D, providing an epochal paradigm shift in the field of space plasma physics. Plasma Observatory‘s seven-spacecraft constellation, one of the three ESA M7 candidates, is now performing a Phase A study undertaking the exciting venture to succeed Cluster for the new, multi-scale era of our Magnetospheric System. The re-entry of Cluster Rumba (C1) will take place on October 22, followed by Samba (C3) and Tango (C4) in 2026 , ideally leaving the dance floor to the Plasma Observatory larger family.
More detailed information on the venue and organization will be distributed soon. In the meanwhile, please, save the date !
