The third Solar MHD conference will take place in the beautiful setting of A Coruña, Spain, during the week of the 2026 solar eclipse (August 10-14, 2026). The conference excursion will be held in the path of totality. The conference will include expert and outreach eclipse talks. The registration fee is 350 GBP. It covers standard conference expenses, including the icebreaker, conference dinner and all lunches.
The following topics will be covered in the conference:
- Spectral synthesis and simulated data
- Machine learning and big data in solar physics
- Waves, turbulence, reconnection, and vortices
- Multi-fluid and partially ionized plasma models
- Enhanced MHD and hybrid models
- Next-generation solar and stellar MHD simulations
- Eclipse and coronal observations and their connection to simulations
Interactive hands-on sessions will highlight modern numerical codes and tools. These sessions will provide practical training, foster collaboration, and serve as a platform for developing future research projects and funding proposals.
Abstract submissions are open until 15 May 2026.
Important note: Accommodation in A Coruña is expected to be in very high demand during the conference week due to the eclipse. A limited number of rooms have been reserved for conference participants by the organizers. The deadlines for room bookings are February 20th (students’ accommodation) and March 31st (hotel).
