The Laboratory of Plasma Physics (LPP) is pleased to invite applications for a two-year postdoctoral research position jointly hosted by École Polytechnique (Palaiseau) and Sorbonne Université (Paris). The project is centered on the Mass Spectrum Analyzer (MSA), part of the MPPE suite onboard the Mio spacecraft. The research focuses on in situ plasma measurements to investigate ion dynamics within Mercury’s magnetosphere during the orbital phase of the ESA/JAXA BepiColombo mission.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic international team with active collaborations across Europe, Japan, and the US, gaining direct access to mission data as it becomes available in 2027.
We seek highly motivated candidates with a PhD and expertise in space plasma physics and magnetospheric dynamics, data analysis (specifically ion and particle instrument data), numerical modeling and/or particle instrumentation development.
