At the university of Orléans we have an open position for a 3-year PhD on « Fine structure of type III solar radio bursts », which is about the investigation of signatures of wave generation processes in the solar wind using observations from Parker Solar Probe and Solar Orbiter. Solar radio bursts have recently received considerable attention because of the interaction of the energetic particles that generate them with the local medium. This PhD project seeks to explore and better understand the underlying physical processes.
The three supervisors of this multidisciplinary project are Säm Krucker (SSL Berkeley, and Univ. of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland), and Vladimir Krasnoselskikh & Thierry Dudok de Wit (LPC2E, Orléans).
Candidates should have a strong background in space science and be fluent in data analysis. Expertise in plasma physics is an asset.
Applications must be submitted by 14 March 2025 via the CNES website. Do not hesitate to contact us beforehand at: ddwit at cnrs-orleans.fr (T. Dudok de Wit).
