SUMMARY:Surya Foundation Model Workshop
DESCRIPTION:We are organizing a research workshop focused on the recently r
 eleased Surya foundation model for heliophysics\, trained on data from th
 e Solar Dynamics Observatory. Foundation models (such as GPT) are AI model
 s\, pretrained with big datasets\, that aim to facilitate (and reduce the 
 cost of) the development of a wide range of AI applications.\n\nThe worksh
 op will take place from January 12th to 16th\, 2026 at the Southwest Resea
 rch Institute\, Boulder and will be a hybrid virtual and in-person meeting
 . This google calendar shows the current agenda in Mountain Standard Time
  (including the virtual meeting link)\, which you can add to your own cale
 ndar.\n\nThe workshop consists of informational and hands-on components. T
 he informational component consists of presentations and lectures about fo
 undation models and how to fine-tune them for different heliophysics appli
 cations. The hands-on component will involve the development and training
  of fine-tuned models in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.\n\nAt 4pm MS
 T of the 13th\, 14th\, and 15th of January there will panels of experts di
 scussing foundation models from Industry (12th)\, Government Agency (13th)
 \, and Scientific (15th) perspectives.\n\nAll informational components wil
 l be recorded and made available online after the workshop. All are welco
 me to participate on the informational components\; limited availability e
