SUMMARY:Soutenance de HDR de Susanna Parenti
s données.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nEnglish version\n\nI am pleased to invite you to
the defence of my habilitation à diriger des recherche on Tuesday 14 O
ctobre 2025 at 10h in room 123 at IAS:\n\nFrom cool to hot plasmas: the so
lar atmosphere as a laboratory to study the coexistence of diverse plasma
conditions.\n\nAbstract:\n\nMy research field is the solar corona\, the ex
ternal part the Sun’s atmosphere\, which is hotter (~1 MK) than its surf
ace (6000 K) and less dense (~ 109 cm-3). While its general properties ar
e known\, understanding the detailed physical mechanisms responsible for t
he heating of this region remains a major subject of investigation for the
solar physics community.\n\nThe corona is also characterized by the prese
nce of magnetic structures made of partially ionized plasma\, which are co
 oler (~7000 K) and denser (~10¹⁰ cm⁻³)\, called prominences. Their e
xistence and stability within the hot corona are still open questions. Mor
eover\, predicting their possible instability conditions that may lead to
their eruption\, is one major interests in the context of the Sun-Earth re
lations.  \n\nI will present the state of the art of the studies carried
out in these two plasma regimes\, and the advances achieved by my research
work since the beginning of my career. These rely on spectroscopic and im
aging plasma diagnostics in the X-ray and UV\, applied to observational da
ta from space based instruments\, along with numerical simulations.\n\nFin
ally\, I will review my activity dedicated to the Solar Orbiter mission\,
launched in 2020\, which provides a global vision of the Sun\, of the form
ation and evolution of the solar wind and of the Heliosphere\, through the
link between remote sensing and in-situ data. I will present my key role
on the operations\, scientific coordination and data exploitation.\n\n(Tra
 nsmis par Susanna Parenti)
