SUMMARY:Complexity in Heliophysics: Celebrating the Career and Works of Lou
 kas Vlahos
DESCRIPTION:This is the final announcement of the workshop “Complexity in
Heliophysics: Celebrating the Career and Works of Loukas Vlahos” celebr
ating the prolific career of Prof. Loukas Vlahos of the Aristotle Universi
ty of Thessaloniki\, which will take place in Thessaloniki\, Greece on Jun
e 8 – 10\, 2026. Workshop topics include: complexity in solar and helios
pheric magnetized plasmas\; fusion in laboratory plasmas\; self-organizati
 on\; self-organized criticality\; turbulence\; coronal heating\; solar ene
rgetic events\; particle acceleration and transport.\n\nWe would like to b
ring to your attention that the abstract submission deadline has been exte
nded to March 16\, 2026. Moreover\, we have secured a remote participation
capability and we therefore solicit contributions from remote participant
s\, as well. Oral presentations will be allocated to a reasonable fraction
of remote participants.\n\nImportant Dates:\n\n Abstract Submission Dead
line: 16 March 2026\n Early Bird Registration Deadline: 20 April 2026\n\n
The workshop will feature presentations\, discussions and debate on the to
pics Loukas has championed over several decades of frontline research: com
plexity in solar and heliospheric magnetized plasmas\; fusion in laborator
 y plasmas\; self-organization\; self-organized criticality\; turbulence\;
coronal heating\; solar energetic events\; particle acceleration and trans
port. We envision capturing the current state-of-the-art on these topics\,
from both observational and theory/modeling ends\, and highlighting promi
sing avenues and tools for future research.\n\nScientific Organizing Commi
